Yugioh Advanced Tournament Pack 2014 Volume 2

Photos of the Hippo token from the new #yugioh tournament pack hailing the release of Hippo Carnival from The Duelist Advent! I almost forgot about it with all the DUEA booster openings but the new tournament pack features two tokens; the Hippo token for the Hippo Carnival quick play spell card and the ubiquitous Kuriboh. I'm hoping that the next few tournament packs will feature the other hippos so I can get a set, like the Mecha Phantom Beast tokens that came out a while back.

The other cards are kinda ho-hum but hey, Cyber-Stein will be pretty useful.

Shinies and tokens.

Yu-gi-oh! The Duelist Advent (ザ・デュエリスト・アドベント) DUEA-JP unboxing

The latest #Yugioh booster series has released in Japan today so I decided to do a quick unboxing video!

I'm happy to say that the new Shadoll archetype is looking pretty strong with its ability to recycle from the graveyard and search from the deck. The main card, Shadoll Falcon, seems to be really hard to get though and the key fusion card is sitting on a tidy 2000 yen at the moment. It's like Artifact Cadeceus all over again.

Unfortunately it seems that the card quality has dropped again with many of the cuts not having quite the clear edge but at least the printing quality is as per normal. Stop being such cheapasses Konami and get some real blades!

Yugioh OCG Duel Monsters 15th Anniversary Commemoration Product [Memories of the Duel King: Duelist Kingdom Arc] Review

New #yugioh 15th Anniv. box just arrived, pictures feat. old school cards!

It just arrived this morning and I have to say, I'm very pleased with it. Despite the recent drop in print quality, I'm happy to report that these ones are a huge improvement over the recent Primal Origins cards. Even though it does not have the more solid plastic(?) coating of the older boosters, at least these cards are not damaged out of the box.

Anyway, the pictures!

The box that it all comes in. Very usable for card storage too and when you open it...

The actual deck box itself is amazing. Gold, shiny, textured and very solid. Very Yugi.

Box contents with sleeves. So nostalgic.

Close up of the sleeves. Very awesome sleeve design, especially if you grew up with the original series with Yugi.
This box is definitely more on the side of nostalgia rather than usability, with most of the cards being somewhat meh for actual play. On the other hand, shiny Exodia and Exodia parts! This is what I've been waiting for to make an Exodia deck. The card box, sleeves and shiny token are bonuses too. This is a must-have for old school Yugioh fans but I think any Yugioh fans would be pretty pleased to get their hands on this anyway.

Edit to add: this item was released in very small numbers (relatively speaking). All preorders were filled from the start and its price has jumped from it's retail of roughly US$25 to US$70 in a number of second hand stores I've been looking at.

The box and contents in all their glory.

AvP Wolf Predator by Tamashii Nations

Review of new #predator #actionfigure by #tamashiinations, 4/5 stars!

Introducing the big and the bad Predator Wolf by Tamashii Nations. This is the follow up figure in the S.H Monster Arts line after the Alien that was released a month ago. Just like the Alien, the Predator Wolf has a fantastic build quality. He has excellent joints, customisation and comes with plenty of accessories. My personal favourite is his whip which is made from an Alien’s tail. He also comes with his signature shoulder gun, spear, medical bag, “acid” effect part and blade extensions. There is also a rolled up version of the whip which can be attached to the belt as well as a retracted version of the spear which can be attached to his back. He comes with ten different hands to use with the various weapons as well as two heads (masked/unmasked). For the unmasked head you can change his mouth bits for a wider look. The only issue I have with the figure is that the mouth bits have a tendency to fall out easily and that the heads are quite hard to put on. I recommend using a blow dryer to soften the PVC in the head before attempting to attach it to the ball joint.

Overall I am very happy I bought this guy and he looks wicked posed with the Alien! They are also releasing an “Alien Big Chap” in May and another Predator version in August so I cannot wait to get my hands on them as well!

Pokemon X・Y Art Director Ken Sugimori Collectable Art PG (Pokemon Gallery) prints

New #Pokemon XY Collectable Art framed prints #Xerneas #Yveltal from Pokemon Center Japan! Among all the excitement from the sudden snowfall, these nifty new prints were release from the Pokemon Center.

These two pictures from Pokemon X and Y are drawn by Pokemon artist Ken Sugimori and are available in framed prints, clear files (of course), mugs, a 10 set post card set and two hard cover note books.

Yvetal version
After I got my event Scizor, I went ahead and got the two prints. While the post card set is pretty awesome, featuring 10 new pictures from Ken Sugimori, they feature both Pokemon XY and Pokemon Black White pictures and I'm not really a fan of Black and White.

Examples of the post card images. The post card come in a textured silver tin.
Anyway, the framed prints are pretty nice and are well made. They are about 12" x 10" with a wooden frame. There's a bit that folds out at the back so it can stand on its own but there are also bits to hang it from as well as a piece of string. The image is nicely set in the frame and the quality is really good. There is a Ken Sugimori stamp in the corner, equivalent to a signature. I'm really happy with both of them. If I had choose one, I think I prefer the Yvetal version because I like the black frame more than the white one.
